Thanks you your comments . I couldn’t go as I worked that weekend . Never thought Woodstock would be remembered for so long.

Richie Havens was due to go on fifth but he was the only performer who was actually there on site, so Michael Lang persuaded him to go on first. He had to do four or five encores because the organizers were still trying to fly acts to the festival site by helicopter. He made the song “Freedom” up on the spot because he had run out of material.

I was going to say the same. Sly really got the place jumping. I wasn’t there but I have seen the movie and several documentaries. That’s when the festival came alive.

I seem to remember ShaNaNa recorded one song on the original soundtrack album. I recall it because we had a thing at school that one has to listen to the entire side of an album and I didn’t like them.

I was there and you are correct. Ten Years After with Help Me followed by I’m Going Home was the highlight of the entire concert. Santana was great, but Ten Years After (ALVIN LEE) was just mind blowing. Never before or since have I seen guitar playing like that. Not to mention the guitar faces he gives you. Just incredible!
